Brigitte Szenczi (1943-)
Brigitte Szenczi was born in Budapest. She studied drawing and fashion design in Paris, and met Juan Antonio Mañas who was studying at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and at the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid, starting their joint work in 1975.
Although each one is the author of their own pieces of artwork they usually exhibit jointly, complementing each other like twins celebrating their differences and similarities. Together, they create visual narratives that evoke mythology, dreams, rational and sacred knowledge, science, philosophy and humour as well as cinematographic culture.
Szenczi is well read in classical mythology and this informs the themes she choses.
